But the reason is because the staff here REALLY tries to take care of everyone. If you go to this place when theyre busy, you WILL wait a while for help (I avoid this by going late at night). I was a little tempted to mark "very good" instead of excellent for the service category. Great place to get what you need and then some.īottom line is that this place ROCKS!!! Excellent service. This is my first choice among local fish stores for my needs. They still have awesome deals, nice livestock, great product selection and good customer service.

You will come to know who knows there stuff soon enough by talking with them for a few minutes. I wanted to add that I still love this place and that there are several sales people who are very well informed and helpful and a couple who are slightly less informed, yet still helpful. I will be a regular there and wont be going back to Petsmart unless I need to get dog food.īe sure to sign up for their email promotions and newsletter. They were very accommodating and consistently checking to see if I needed any help. The customer service is very helpful and knowledgeable. The fish room is well stocked on both the marine side and the freshwater side. They have stuff that makes your life easier and good deals on all of it. I found a faucet hookup for my sink and some tubing which just made my water changes go from 30 minutes to fifteen minutes. They also have quite the selection of hardware and devices and gadgets for maintenance. I noticed, on several items, they charged the same price for a large container of filtration media as I would normally pay for a smaller box elsewhere. Most of the stuff I buy on a regular basis (filtration media, food pellets, etc.) are considerably less expensive at Dallas North Aquarium. I visited yesterday and it is leaps and bounds above anything you will find at any fish department in any of the national chain stores. I cant believe Dallas North Aquarium is about five blocks from my home and I never went there before. I get better service and more reliably knowledgeable employees from big box stores like petco/petsmart.Īmazing! I have recently jumped back into having aquariums again and I have been scoping out tanks, supplies and materials on Craigslist and at PetSmart. Im not saying you have to flatter me, but at least knowing what disease youve introduced to my tank / offering to find out.and selling me the chemicals to treat it seems like common sense. Sorry guys, you told me what was wrong with the fish wasnt contagious and not to worry and then scold me when one of mine turn out to have the same disease? No. I was sold sick stock (the rest of the larger fish in the tank were culled) and chastised for bringing it back after 48-hours and lectured on water samples. That 2 angel fish could live in a 10 gallon minimum (Though another worker quickly disputed that), They told me an African clawed frog could live in a 1 gallon. While shopping here in 2014 I have been given: A shame, because the good/knowledgeable people who work there really are a joy. Every time Ive dealt with management they were condescending, so Im going to guess that gets translated over to staff. If youre constantly turning over employees like this place seems to,something is wrong with how they treat their workers or how they educate/prepare their workers. There is always a "hiring" sign in front of the store - first sign youre doing something wrong with your staff. I took years off from the aquarium hobby and just needed a little guidance.instead I get widely chaotic advice and under-trained/educated employees.

It seems like gambling if you end up talking to an employee who knows what they are doing. The stock has gone down hill with the place and so has the quality of employees. The front is always littered with their dirty "buy back" tanks.Im glad they give people an option to rehome old stock and sell off old tanks, but you could clean them out or do something to make them not smell/look trashy. However there "buy back" area is always in disarray and looks ugly as sin. They still have a wide variety of large stock and always have a good selection of rock/slag glass for aquariums.

This place used to be impeccable with beautiful displays and great stock.
